New Delhi, 09 Nov 2016 : Reserve Bank of India said on Wednesday that banks will remain open this Saturday and Sunday after government scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.

Shaktikanta Das, secretary economic affairs in government of India, tweeted, “For public convenience, Banks will remain open on coming Saturday and Sunday.”

All banks were closed today while ATMs across the country will be closed and in some parts even tomorrow.
This decision was taken after PM Modi announced demonitising of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, anticipating panic and heavy rush at bank branches tomorrow for exchange and deposit of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, banks in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh have sought deployment of police at branches in order to avoid any law and order problem.
