Adampur (Punjab), 16 December 2016 :  Punjab is all set to get another airport after bhoomi pujan for a new airport was performed at village kandhola near Adampur and MoU was signed in the presence of the Union Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley , Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal , Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mr. Jayant Sinha and Union Minister for Social justice and Empowerment Mr. Vijay Sampla.
Addressing a state level function at Adampur grain market, Mr. Arun Jaitley said that the air connectivity in Punjab would open new vistas of development as Punjab would have better air connectivity than any other state in India. Terming Punjab as the major beneficiary under the new policy of the Union Government to connect the small towns across the nation, 2 out of three newly sanctioned airports were set up in Punjab at Bathinda and Adampur. Hailing the efforts of Punjab Government for overall development, Mr. Jaitley said that after the dark decade of terrorism, SAD-BJP combine under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has ensured the atmosphere of peace and prosperity by engaging all communities and making them equal partners in the overall prosperity of the state.

Jaitley also said that Punjab has attained the numero uno position in the area of core infrastructure in a survey conducted by agencies of Union Government on the parameters of Road network, Power generation, Urban and Rural development. The Union Minister has also said that Union government would leave no stone unturned to further speed up the development process as it already approved Amritsar and Jalandhar under Smart city, AIIMS at Bathinda and IIM at Amritsar.
Referring to the congress regime during 2002-2007, the Union Minister said that “there was only single pointed agenda and that was to crush the political opponents by indulging in vendetta politics and during this tenure Punjab didn’t witnessed even a single development oriented project”.

Earlier addressing the gathering, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that being a land locked state, the SAD-BJP government had set out to make Punjab the best state in terms of air connectivity and focused all its energies towards this goal which has resulted in Punjab being the best state having air connectivity in the nation. He said that “it was the long pending demand of the people from NRI belt and now this airport would facilitate businessmen, traders , NRIs and even people from the adjoining states.”
Terming SAD-BJP alliance as the one truly devoted to development, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the alliance would register third consecutive victory in the coming assembly elections and last rites of AAP would be performed in Punjab after the polls. Thanking the Union Government for giving special attention towards Punjab S. Badal said that the Airport Authority of India (AAI) will initially construct an airport terminal and a parking bay, for which the Punjab Government has acquired 40 acre land with the consent of the owners. He further elaborated that around 55 to 60 lakh people from Doaba region are settled abroad who have to face a lot of inconvenience to reach their homes, which would now be a history.
Ensuring the people about the speedy work on the project, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mr. Jayant Sinha said that within a year the project would become a reality. The new civil airport terminal would have 5000 SQM meter building capacity in 40 acre of land in first phase besides parking bays for A-320 type of aircrafts.
Earlier an MOU was also signed between Punjab Government and Airport Authority of India.

Delhi Metro ready to resume services after 169 days

New Delhi, 7 Sep : Delhi Metro is ready to resume its services, which were suspended since 22nd March 2020 due to Corona pandemic, from tomorrow i.e, 7th September 2020 onwards from Yellow Line (Samyapur Badli to HUDA City Centre) in a staggered manner. Over a period of next five days i.e, by 12th September, rest of the Lines will also be made operational with all safety measures in place to check the spread of Covid-19 in the Metro premises which requires everyone to follow a new normal of social distancing, face mask and hand sanitisation.

“On this Monday and Tuesday, only the Yellow line (49 KM with 37 stations consisting of 20 underground and 17 elevated stations) will remain operational for a period of four hours each in the morning (7 AM to 11 AM) and evening (4 PM to 8 PM). Trains will be available with a headway varying from 2’44’’ to 5’28” (at different stretches) with 57 trains performing around 462 trips. The same will be further extended in a graded manner from 9th to 12th September along with other Lines”, said Mr. Anuj Dayal, the Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC.

“The resumption of services with a new normal to prevent the spread of Covid-19 desires public to understand and co-operate with DMRC/CISF personnel on few aspects for a comfortable and safe commuting experience”, a statement released by DMRC said.

Metro Services to resume from September 7

No permission needed for inter/intra-state movement of goods, persons

New Delhi, 29 Aug : The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday announced guidelines for ‘Unlock 4’, which will come into effect from September 1. As per the new guidelines, Metro rail will be allowed to operate with effect from September 7 in a graded manner, while schools, colleges and other educational institutes will remain shut for students upto September 30.

Under Unlock 4 guidelines, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will be issuing Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) for the Metro services to resume.

The Ministry of Home Affairs have decided to allow religious, social, political, entertainment, sports and academic events to take place from September 21, but only outside the containment zone with a limited participation of not more than 100 people. Open air theaters will also be permitted from September 21.

“Such limited gatherings can be held with mandatory wearing of face masks, social distancing, provision for thermal scanning and hand wash or sanitizer,” MHA guidelines for Unlock 4 state.

The statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs for Unlock 4 clearly stated that there will be no restriction on inter-State and intra-State movement of persons and goods, and no separate permission/ e-permit will be required for such movements.

In a statement the MHA said, “State/ UT Governments shall not impose any local lockdown (State/ District/ sub-division/City/ village level), outside the containment zones, without prior consultation with the central government.”
For the vulnerable section of the population, the MHA said, “vulnerable persons, i.e., persons above 65 years of age, persons with co-morbidities, pregnant women, and children below the age of 10 years, are advised to stay at home, except for essential requirements and for health purposes.”
